HWA Found in Manistee and Van Buren Counties

Hemlock woolly adelgid has been confirmed by the Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development (MDARD) in two more Michigan counties- Manistee and Van Buren. This brings the total number of counties with infestations to eleven. While these counties do not represent any new northern infestations, it does help highlight the importance of ongoing detection surveys and resurveys. If your property contains hemlock trees within 10 miles of the Lake Michigan lakeshore (or other special considerations with rivers/wetlands), please reach out to your local HWA task force (CISMA, Conservation District, FAP Forester, etc) for surveys and more information.
