Efforts continue in the fight against Hemlock Woolly Adelgid (HWA) in and beyond Ottawa County. Surveys and treatments continue to be managed on both public and private property. The four-county quarantine on eastern hemlocks is still in effect, which means if you see trimmed hemlock branches while out for a walk, do not move them (even if there is no detectable HWA). Moving branches with needles is illegal at this time, since it can spread HWA.
