WMSRDC is advertising a Request for Qualifications / Proposals for the West Michigan Hemlock Woolly Adelgid Treatment.
The West Michigan Shoreline Regional Development Commission (WMSRDC), under an agreement with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is requesting proposals for a consultant to assist WMSRDC with ecological treatment for Hemlock Woolly Adelgid in four West Michigan counties. The WMSRDC is the overall project administrator for the grant agreement with EPA. Ottawa Conservation District (OCD) has entered into a subrecipient agreement with WMSRDC for management of the project’s survey and control components. The West Michigan Cooperative Invasive Species Management Area (WMCISMA) and other critical stakeholders, environmental agencies and landowners will provide input and guidance for the project.
Contractual treatment will take place on parcels with known infestations, including on parcels where infestation are not detected (prophylactic treatment) surrounding infested areas. Because not all treatment sites for this project are known at this time, contractual treatment will be determined by consultants capacity to handle the proposed treatment. Consultants will estimate their treatment capacity based on information given about the scope of work, treatment services requested, and treatment protocol as well as providing cost estimates for each treatment method proposed, using cost per diameter at breast height (DBH) inch.
Contractual treatment will be conducted from March 30, 2018 through March 30, 2019, throughout spring and fall months.
