WMSRDC is advertising a Request for Qualifications / Proposals for the West Michigan Hemlock Woolly Adelgid Survey.
Information:
The West Michigan Shoreline Regional Development Commission (WMSRDC), under an agreement with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is requesting proposals for a consultant to assist WMSRDC with presence/absence survey for Hemlock Woolly Adelgid in three West Michigan counties. The WMSRDC is the overall project administrator for the grant agreement with EPA. Ottawa Conservation District (OCD) has entered into a sub-recipient agreement with WMSRDC for management of the Project’s survey and control components. The West Michigan Cooperative Invasive Species Management Area (WMCISMA) and other critical stakeholders, environmental agencies and landowners will provide input and guidance for the Project.
The Project is focused on public and private lands, where Hemlock trees are an important part of forested land cover. Contractual presence/absence surveys will occur at a total of 2,000 acres located throughout Lake Michigan’s coastal zone. The goals of this project include identifying the extent of HWA, early detection and rapid response to infested sites, and effective data management.
